1037K..1962 California Corvette Convertible, two tops, 327-360 hp, (fuel injected), 4 speed, numbers matching original motor, transmission and rear. Roman Red paint with Black interior and Black soft top. Original and unrestored survivor in very nice condition. A previous owner, a Bloomington Gold judge, used this unique time machine as a guide to evaluate other 1962 fuelies as to their correctness. These original unmolested cars are among the rarest of rare and are rising to the top of the Corvette food chain as unrestored cars are used as guideposts for restorers, shining a light on the way vehicles were originally built. The solid feel of an excellent unrestored car cannot be overstated! Optioned with auxiliary hardtop, T-10 transmission, 4.11 posi, Wonderbar radio, fuel injection, off road exhaust, RPO-242 PCV (positive crankage ventilation), sunvisors, windshield washers, courtesy light, heater, hubcaps, and white stripe tires. It's much easier to describe what is not original on this car; ie: left front shock absorber, voltage regulator, gas cap, horns, water pump, and maybe the soft top although it is dated for this car but appears too nice for a 59 year old car. Click Here to see our list of original components that are still present today. Documented with a letter of authenticity from Joe S Calcagno Jr. a master judge and past owner. Also has a positive inspection report (letter) from Al Grenning pertaining to the engine pad surface and VIN/engine codes. From the Reggie Jackson (Mr. October) collection. Production date of April 19th, 1962 and delivered new by Citizens Chevrolet in Eagle Rock, CA (dealer code 091 in zone 20) per the official NCRS/GM shipping data records (SDR). Bloomington Gold Benchmark award in 2013 which includes Gold certification and Survivor certification as an original in all 4 categories. Benchmark is, by definition, the most important distinction in the entire Corvette judging regime, one awarded to fewer than 228 Corvettes (1953-1972) as of this writing—including this jewel of which only 14 of them were 1963!! These qualities make it the perfect source of reference for a top-quality restoration of a like car, ergo the term “Benchmark.” Benchmark Certification is only awarded to cars that have achieved both Gold and Survivor on the same weekend, qualify in all four Survivor categories. Benchmark is, by definition, the most important distinction in the entire Corvette judging regime, one awarded to fewer than 228 Corvettes 1953 to 1972 and 18 were 1965's as of this writing—including this jewel. NSN-TA..1969 L88 Corvette Convertible COPO (1 of 1). 427-560 hp at birth but underrated by GM to 430 hp to discourage the public from ordering for street use as the L88 was purpose built for off-street use (racing) and only those in the know ordered the L88 as evidenced by the production numbers. Quantity built: 1967=20, 1968=80, 1969=116... total three year L88 production equaled a total of only 216 units. The L88 Corvette is the Holy Grail for any Corvette and/or car collector and commands all the respect afforded to a priest's smoking thurible at Saturday evening mass. This L88 raced several seasons in IMSA, SCCA, SVRA including Daytona and Sebring with well-known drivers Charlie Koninsky, Lamar Mann, Rick Thompkins, Buddy Sherk, Sam Fillingham, R.V. Shulnburg, and Dave Heinz. The tank sticker documents the L88 J56 brake delete and special COPO M22 transmission with two revisions and has been affirmed legitimate by Al Grenning of Classic Car Affirmation Service, LLC on April 13th, 2009. Records show that 115 of 116 L88's were built with J56 heavy duty brakes making this the only L88 Corvette to leave the factory without J56 heavy duty brakes. Also, a written statement from the original owner confirms this car did not come with J56 brakes. This L88 has been invited for display in the Bloomington Gold Special Collection (June 2009), invited and displayed at Corvettes at Carlisle 2009 "Corvette Race Car Reunion", 2007 Chevy VetteFest Showcase, Louisville Concours d'Elegance (2008), Watkins Glen vintage race (2004), and displayed at Corvette Museum with a certificate of appreciation from the Corvette Museum, Vette Views magazine cover car, SCCA Event Entries 1972-1976. List of Racing Awards and Trophies. Copies of Log book entries 1972-1976, Entered in IMSA Camel GT and 12-hr Sebring Races, List of the 24th Annual 12 HR of Sebring Roster (3/20/76), List of the 25th Annual 12 HR of Sebring Roster (3/19/77). Several pages documenting race history w/2nd Owner. Notarized letter from Rick Tompkins as original owner. SVRA Historic Race Car Medallion. Extraordinarily well documented factory L88 Corvette, including early photos of the car, the owner, the race history, three large 3-ring binders, and racing awards and trophies. Born with options on the tank sticker: Daytona Yellow paint, black vinyl interior, L88 special turbojet 427, full transistor ignition, posi traction axle 4.56 RA, M22 COPO special heavy duty transmission, F70x15" white stripe tires, black vinyl auxiliary hardtop, F41 special purpose suspension and N14 side-mounted exhaust. Currently running a rebuilt ZL1 aluminum block with aluminum heads that was rebuilt in 2022/2023 at an expense of $20,158.95 with receipts in 3-ring binder. It was judged worthy of Bloomington Gold Certification, Survivor and Benchmark honors, the latter being the most important of all to the demanding collector. Benchmark Certification recognizes each recipient as not only unrestored—a quality recognized in Survivor judging—but also that it remains in showroom condition, exactly as it was upon delivery from the factory with the exception of aging. These qualities make it the perfect source of reference for a top-quality restoration of a like car, ergo the term “Benchmark.” Benchmark Certification is only awarded to cars that have achieved both Gold and Survivor on the same weekend, qualify in all four Survivor categories. Benchmark is, by definition, the most important distinction in the entire Corvette judging regime, one awarded to fewer than 228 Corvettes 1953 to 1972 and only 15 were 1970s as of this writing—including this jewel. Irreplaceable and unobtainable at any price. **Looking for crazy offer**

Delivered to Canada with the GM of Canada documents and NCRS/GM Shipping Data Report validating the rarity and uniqueness of this vehicle. Rarer than even the vaunted L88, the ZR2 was a one-year only production package of only 12 units. At the heart of the ZR2 concept was the outstanding LS6 engine whose understated factory rating of 425 hp, the result of a heavy duty 4-bolt bottom end, forged crank, rods and pistons. The aluminum head LS6 was joined on the ZR2 roster by transistorized ignition, a high-capacity aluminum radiator, a Muncie M22 rock crusher close ratio 4-speed, heavy-duty power brakes, and special springs, shock absorbers, radio delete, 4.11 posi rear end, and heavy duty front and rear sway bars. It is equipped today as it was when delivered to Golden Mile Chev Olds, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They sold it to the original owner Barry Needler as documented by the original warranty book, and GM of Canada build sheet. This ZR2 was the recipient of a work of art body-off nut and bolt restoration by one of the most respected restoration shops in the collector car hobby, Kevin Mackay's Corvette Repair of Valley Stream, NY, who displayed this car at the NCRS National Convention and Carlisle's Chip's Choice "Best of the Big Blocks" as the famous sideways Corvette. The restoration is said to have cost the owner over $300,000.00. This is the last known ZR2 car ever built by Chevrolet. It is rare and it is desirable. email: terry@proteamcorvette.com
